The Italian competition authority accepts Google’s commitments in the investigation concerning Google News in Italy* In January 2011, the Italian Competition Authority announced that it closed its investigation against Google Italy, for the alleged abuse of dominant position. The decision was taken after Google offered commitments, which in the view of the authority sufficiently addressed the anticompetitive concerns raised during the investigation. The case started in 2009, after the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FIEG) filed a complaint against the Silicon Valley giant for its conduct in managing Google News Italia - the on-line service which aggregates web content of Italian publishers and news
