The Macedonian Administrative Court confirms a merger prohibition decision in the market for retail distribution of pharmaceutical products (Zegin / City Pharmacy)

On 1 June 2006 Zegin, leading distributor of the pharmaceuticals on the territory of Skopje municipality agreed with two other retail distributors of medicines - Alkaloid [1] and Pharma Corp. to acquire joint control over City Pharmacy in Skopje [2] , which owned a network of pharmacies in the Macedonian capital. City Pharmacy was a public undertaking, which was privatized by the public offering of 75% of its shares through the Macedonian Stock Exchange [3]. Implementing their agreement, Zegin, Alkaloid and Pharma Corp. purchased the specified shares and so acquired control over City Pharmacy, now owning 25% of the stock each. The Macedonian Competition
