The EU Commission discusses the topic of competition policy contributing to the European Green Deal

On 4 February 2021, the European Commission’s long-awaited Conference on Competition Policy Contributing to the European Green Deal took place. The conference was opened by Commission Executive Vice President and Commissioner in charge of competition policy, Margrethe Vestager. The European Green Deal, announced in December 2019, is the EU’s growth strategy focusing on the creation of new jobs and boosting innovation in sustainable areas of the economy, including transport, energy, agriculture and buildings. Its goal is for Europe to be the first climate neutral continent by 2050, where economic growth is decoupled from resource use.
