The Italian Competition Authority conditionally clears a merger in the market for distribution of natural gas (Rami Distribuzioni)

With a II-Phase conditional clearance decision, the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) has closed the review of the merger notified in the Rami Distribuzioni case [1]. The ICA had concerns that the merger might negatively affect competition in the market for the distribution of natural gas. Accordingly, it made the approval of the transaction conditional upon the implementation on the part of the merging parties of suitable remedies. The transaction under scrutiny and the ICA competition concerns With the notified merger, Ascopiave, active in the market for the distribution of natural gas, intended to purchase from the multiutility AcegasApsAmga (AAA) the business branch for the distribution of natural gas in the territorial ambits (ATEM) of Padova1, Padova2, Udine3 and Pordenone
