Turkish merger and privatization regime: An overview

Following the recent developments in Turkish economy, investment growth has been boosted by a series of financial reforms liberalization of regulations within Turkish market. Thus, there has been a wave of major mergers and acquisitions in Turkey during last decade. The domestic and international actors have been very active in M&A. This merging and acquiring movement not only been effective in private sector but after a long and drawn down process the privatization of many public companies has either launched or completed. Legislation Article 7 of the Act on Protection of Competition is the general clause regulating the prohibitions concerning the mergers and acquisitions.
