The Hellenic Competition Authority fines €9 million refineries for price coordination in the jet aviation fuel sector (IATA / El.PE. / Motor Oil)

Factual BackgroundA. The Complaint IATA, the International Organization for Jet Aviation services, lodged a complaint against EL.PE SA and Motor Oil SA, major oil refineries operating in the Greek market, concerning the uniform application of prices in the sector of Jet Aviation Fuel. The complaint was initially addressed to RAE, the Regulatory Agency for the Energy sector, which relegated the matter to the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC). B. Market Structure EL.PE SA is the biggest commercial and industrial association in Greece in the sector of supply and refinement of crude oil, the trading of oil goods and the exploitation of any form of energy.
