The Bulgarian Competition Authority fines an undertaking for abusing its dominance on the funeral services market (Obreden Dom)

The Bulgarian Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) maintained its traditional tough approach towards rent-seeking in the funeral services sector in a recent decision regarding the practices of a municipal funeral agency in the town of Razgrad. In the case at stake, the town council of Razgrad has adopted a decision entrusting exclusively the management and the maintenance of the local cemetery and the processing of the administrative formalities related to funerals to a firm controlled by the municipality, Obreden Dom EOOD (OD).
