By way of its decision no. 77/2017 ('Decision'), the Romanian Competition Council ('RCC') sanctioned six undertakings with fines totalling approx. EUR 15.8 million for bid rigging on the Romanian market for the manufacturing and commercialization of electricity meters and ancillary measuring equipment. This is the highest fine applied by the RCC in 2017. The decision is currently under judicial review. Background The investigation was initiated ex officio by the RCC in 2015, based on information received from the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, as it has been the case in previous bid rigging investigations.
