The Hungarian Parliament amends the Competition Act and introduces rewards for information about cartels (Act CLXIII of 2009)

An amendment of the Hungarian Competition Act introduces financial rewards for providing information about cartels. The new reward system is expected to boost the capacity of the Hungarian Competition Office to uncover hard core infringements. I. The structure of the reward system Pursuant to the new Section 79/A of the Competition Act entering into force on 1 April 2010, any natural person is entitled to a reward if it provides the Competition Office with information and/or evidence indispensable to establish an infringement of Section 11 of the Competition Act or Article 101 TFEU in connection with an agreement or concerted practice between competitors which directly or indirectly relates to price fixing, market sharing, bid-rigging or the limitation of output (setting production
