The UK Competition Commission cleared a merger in the healthcare waste management sector subject to divestments (Stericycle/Sterile Technologies Group)

The operation Stericycle International provides healthcare risk waste services to a range of National Health Service (NHS) and other customers in Great Britain. Sterile Technologies Group (“STG”) also provides healthcare risk waste management services to healthcare risk waste producers in the UK and Ireland. On 28 June 2006 the UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) referred the completed acquisition of STG by Stericycle to the UK Competition Commission (CC) for investigation.
