"Commission adopts revised Leniency Notice to reward companies that report hard-core cartels"* On 6 December 2006 the Commission adopted a revised Notice on Immunity from Fines and Reduction of Fines in Cartel Cases (the “2006 Leniency Notice”). The 2006 Leniency Notice builds on the achievements of the 2002 Leniency Notice, which has undoubtedly made a key contribution to uncover and put an end to numerous hard-core cartels. Therefore the improvements in the Leniency Notice have focused on providing more guidance to applicants and increasing the transparency of the procedure. This further guidance is expected to result into leniency applications of better quality for the purpose of the investigation.
