"Mergers — Main developments between 1 January and 30 April 2006"* The proposed acquisition, which was notified on 4 November, involved the acquisition of sole control of the Czech and Slovak business of the undertaking Carrefour (France) by Tesco (UK). Tesco, based in the UK, is active in food and non-food retailing and has over 2,300 stores worldwide covering a wide variety of shop formats.
