The Danish Supreme Court enhances fines in case involving anticompetitive practices in the bus transport industry (Danske Busvognmænd)

On 30 August 2010 the Danish Supreme Court (Højesteret) handed down a judgment in the case of the Public Prosecutor vs. Danske Busvognmaend (Danish Bus Operators) in a case regarding anticompetitive practices. Only the question of the amount of the fine was at issue before the Danish Supreme Court - not the question of liability. Danske Busvognmaend is an industrial association whose members account for app. 90 % of all tourist transportation by bus in Denmark. The infringement was a nationwide information exchange on pricing intentions as well as a recommendation to its members to impose an additional 4 % charge to all
