Robert is Freshfields’ global co-head of M&A and prior to that was Asia Managing Partner of the firm for 7 years. He specialises in all forms of M&A and private equity work and is known for board level advice on corporate finance and governance matters. He has over 25 years experience in Asia and during that time has led on many of the region’s most high profile transactions. His recent work includes advising Starbucks on its US$1.3bn buy-out of its East China business, Hutchison on its US$1.86bn sale of its fixed-line telecommunications business, Hong Leong on its proposed US$1.6bn privatisation of Guoco Group, Prudential/Eastspring on its acquisition of a controlling stake in TMB Asset Management and InterContinental Hotels on its acquisition of Regent Hotels and Resorts. Robert has won numerous legal accolades and awards throughout his career, including International Law Firm Leader of the Year in 2016, Dealmaker of the Year in 2014 and International M&A Lawyer of the Year at the Asia Legal Awards 2018.
