Michelle Chan is a technology, telecoms and media lawyer, providing strategic, corporate and commercial advice to major players in the Asia Pacific region. She is based in Hong Kong and is a partner in our Corporate & Commercial team.With over 20 years’ experience by her side, she works on commercial, corporate and regulatory matters in the technology, media and telecoms sectors across Asia. Michelle Chan also has considerable experience advising clients on data protection issues and non-contentious IP projects, including helping clients with data protection investigations, in conjunction with Bird & Bird’s investigation and dispute practice. In recent years, she has advised on projects covering disruptive technologies such as Big Data, IoT, online payments services and FinTech. In media, Michelle Chan has provided advice to leading European football clubs, digital media rights holders, channel providers (traditional and online) and game developers on a range of legal matters including online streaming, capital raising and regulation. Michelle Chan was seconded to the APAC headquarters of Alcatel-Lucent (now part of Nokia) in Shanghai for a year. She is a dual qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and Hong Kong.
