John McKellar is a senior associate in the competition practice John specialises in advising corporate and private equity clients on competition law. He has managed many transactions requiring clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and other international competition agencies, and has coordinated multi-jurisdictional merger filings across Europe, Asia and the Americas. He has successfully obtained clearances in complex and contentious matters, including those involving detailed Phase 2 investigations and court action. In addition to merger control, John regularly advises clients on cartel and antitrust risk relating to commercial arrangements and represents clients in investigations brought by competition and sector regulators. John is also experienced in defending clients in disputes and litigation involving competition allegations, including allegations of abuse of market power. John also advises consumer-facing corporations on the application of the Australian Consumer Law. John’s clients span a range of sectors including technology, private equity, agriculture, retail, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, energy, entertainment, hotels, consumables, finance, aviation and construction materials.
