Senior director of mergers

Joel Bamford is Senior Director of Mergers at the Competition and Markets Auhtority (CMA), where he leads the CMA’s mergers team on both cases and policy initiatives. Joel has also led a number of recent high profile CMA merger investigations including Sainsbury’s/Asda and 21CenturyFox/Sky. Prior to working at the CMA Joel was the Advocacy Manager at the New Zealand Commerce Commission with responsibility for the policy, education and international portfolio. Joel is an experienced competition economist with an MA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh.
