Jean-François Carenco has spent most of his career in the prefecture. In 2010, he was appointed Prefect of the Rhône-Alpes region, Prefect of the Rhône, and in March 2015, Prefect of the Ile-de-France region, Prefect of Paris. He also headed the cabinet of Mr. Jean-Louis Borloo, Minister of State for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Territorial Development from 2008 to 2009, then the cabinet of the Minister of State for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Sea until 2010. He was in charge of the Climate Negotiations. He was appointed President of CRE on February 16, 2017.
