Chiara Fumagalli is a Professor Associate at the University of Bocconi. She has received a PhD in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). Her research interests include Competition Policy and Corporate Finance. She is an expert of abusive behaviour by dominant firms and of the activity of Internal Capital Markets in business groups and multidivisional firms. On these issues I have extensively published on top international academic journals. She will continue investigating the distinct features of group-affiliated firms. She received the AXA Grant for the project ’(Why) Are Business Group Special? Internal Labor and Capital Markets in French Business Groups’ (with G. Cestone, F. Kramarz and G. Pica). The ultimate aim of her research is to understand the determinants of group formation and evolution. Chiara is also an affiliate of international research institutions, such as the CEPR (Centre for Economic Policy Research), and a member of the Economic Policy Panel. She acts as a referee for most of the top international academic journals and is a member of the Programme Committee both of the European Economic Association (EEA) and of the European Association of Research in Industrial Economics (EARIE). She acts as a special consultant for Compass Lexecon concerning anti-trust cases. Recently, Chiara was working on abuse of dominance cases involving prominent international corporations. She is a member of the group of experts appointed by the European Commission to advice DG Competition for the Guidance Paper on the quantification of harm in antitrust damages actions. She was appointed by the Court of Milan to serve as an expert in antitrust damages actions. Such activities have given her important experience in the practice of competition policy. Lastly, Chiara has long experience in teaching to different types of audience, from executives and MBA students to PhD students and undergraduates.
