​Balthasar Strunz is a German-qualified lawyer and a member of the Munich Bar. He works at Solarisbank AG in Berlin, as the General Counsel, since 2022. Dr. Strunz begun at Soalrisbank AG in 2019. He was previously an Associate in the Brussels’ office of Gibson Dunn from 2016 to 2019. Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mr. Strunz trained at the European Commission (DG Competition) and the competition groups of two Magic Circle firms in Berlin and Brussels. Mr. Strunz finished his legal clerkship, during which he worked for the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, with the Second State Exam in 2015. Prior to this Mr. Strunz wrote a PhD on South African competition law at the Max-Planck-Institute for Innovation and Competition. Mr. Strunz graduated from Humboldt University in Berlin in 2009 and received a LL.M. degree from the University of Cape Town in 2010. Mr. Strunz is a native German speaker, fluent in English, and is also proficient in French.
