Stefaan Van den Bogaert

Stefaan Van den Bogaert is professor of European law, director of the Europa Institute and vice-dean of the Law School at Leiden University. He also lectures in European Sports Law on the Postgraduate Sports Management programme at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is a member of the editorial board of Common Market Law Review. Van den Bogaert has published extensively in the field of European law. His main areas of expertise are internal market law, competition law, EMU, Brexit, and sport. Van den Bogaert studied law at the universities of Leuven, Osnabrück and Cambridge. In 2003 he obtained a PhD at the European University Institute in Florence with a thesis on the regulation of the mobility of sportsmen in the European Union in the post-Bosman era.
