Sarah Cardell

Sarah Cardell was appointed as Chief Executive in December 2022. Previously, she was appointed General Counsel at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in September 2013. She heads the CMA’s Legal Service which provides legal advice across the CMA’s functions. She is also a member of the CMA’s senior executive team and is the legal adviser to the CMA’s Board. Previously, she was partner in the Competition Group at Slaughter and May, where she advised across wide range of EU and UK merger and antitrust cases and Legal Partner of the Markets Division at Ofgem, where her responsibilities included leading on competition law matters.
