Philippe Laconte is a counsel with Jones Day in Brussels. He has long-standing experience representing global corporations in antitrust and competition law at the EU and national levels. He also frequently advises on regulatory matters, particularly in the telecommunications field. Philippe represents clients in cross-border mergers, abuse of dominant position, and State aid cases before the European Commission, European courts, and national authorities. He advises clients in a variety of industries, including technology, manufacturing, telecoms, energy, and chemicals. Philippe recently represented NVIDIA in its $6.9 billion acquisition of Mellanox and represented Wabtec in its $11.1 billion merger with GE Transportation, which involved multiple antitrust reviews in numerous jurisdictions. He also represented Wabtec in its $1.8 billion acquisition of Faiveley, which was cleared after a complex Phase II investigation. In addition, he regularly advises companies and governments on State aid law. Philippe also advises telecommunications operators across Europe on day-to-day regulatory matters and in proceedings before competition authorities, regulators, and civil and administrative courts. These complex representations have concerned, in particular, a range of fair access and pricing issues. Philippe worked for three years in the Firm’s Washington Office, where his practice focused on assisting clients in merger reviews and antitrust investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.
