Michael Ristaniemi has worked at Metsä Group since 2013 and has acted as the group’s competition counsel, as well as contributes to DG Competition’s work at the ICN as a Non-Governmental Advisor. Further, Ristaniemi is finalising his doctoral dissertation in competition law and policy, as a part of which he attended Berkeley Law’s Visiting Scholar Programme in 2017-2018. Other legal interests include corporate governance and the role of business in society. Ristaniemi has several years of experience of working both in-house and at leading Finnish and international law firms, including McDermott Will & Emery’s competition and regulatory practice in Brussels as a seconded lawyer. In early 2020, he appeared on the “Finland’s 35 under 35” list published by Talouselama magazine.
