Massimo Fabio joined KPMG in 1999. He is a partner, based in Rome and head of KPMG’s trade & customs practice in Italy. Massimo Fabio helps multinational clients to achieve global tax efficiencies and comply with a complex set of local customs legislation and GATT/WTO principles. His areas of expertise are wide-ranging and include international trade, customs and excise law, VAT issues, AEO status, international customs planning and risk analysis, refund applications, tax rulings, and tax litigation. Since 2017, Massimo Fabio has also been in charge of the Italian Tax & Legal Brexit team. The author of numerous tax manuals, Massimo Fabio is a member of various high-profile committees, working groups and professional associations. He is a regular conference speaker and lectures at the universities of Leiden, Lausanne, Rome (LUISS) and Milan (Bocconi). Before joining KPMG Massimo Fabio served for 13 years as an officer in the Italian Guardia di Finanza (Customs and Tax Police), rising to Chief of the Community Fraud Section at its Rome headquarters.
