Marc represents companies and individuals that are under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division (DOJ-Antitrust) and other competition authorities for possible criminal antitrust (cartel) violations, such as price fixing, bid rigging, and market allocation, as well as related federal criminal offenses, such a fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. He is currently a Partner at Farmer Brownstein Jaeger Goldstein Klein & Siegel. Prior he was a Partner at Jones Day. Before joining Jones Day in January 2017, he worked for 30 years at DOJ-Antitrust in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and New York. As a trial attorney in San Francisco for 17 years, he investigated and prosecuted multiple companies and their executives for engaging in international cartel activity, particularly in the commodity chemicals market. As Director of Criminal Enforcement in Washington, D.C., he helped supervise the then-eight criminal offices nationwide. Mr. Siegel advised the Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust (AAG) on all major criminal enforcement actions as well as on policy initiatives. For nearly six years as Director, he reviewed all staff requests, for AAG approval, to open grand jury investigations, grant corporate leniency applications, enter into plea agreements with companies and individuals, and indict corporate and individual targets of cartel investigations. As Chief of the New York Office, he oversaw that office’s wide-ranging investigation and prosecutions of multiple defendants charged with antitrust and fraud offenses in the municipal bonds markets. And most recently, as Chief of the San Francisco Office, he oversaw the investigations and prosecutions in several high-profile matters, including capacitors and packaged seafood.
