Maarten Pieter Schinkel is a Professor of Economics at the University of Amsterdam and a research fellow of the Tinbergen Institute. By affiliation, as one of the founders of the ACLE, he is also a professor of law at the UvA Law School. Schinkel’s research interests are in industrial organization and competition policy. His recent papers consider green antitrust, cartel mechanisms, agency behavior and banking competition. His work is widely published and regularly attracts media attention. He occasionally acts as an expert witness in antitrust cases and is a student-award-winning teacher. Schinkel served in several public functions, including as Non-Governmental Advisor to the European Commission and Deputy Economic Counsel to the Board to the Dutch competition authority (ACM). He is a Fulbright fellow and a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW).
