Ms. Esra Uçtu is a senior associate at ELIG Gürkaynak Attorneys-at-Law. Before joining ELIG Gürkaynak in 2014, Esra worked as a competition law associate at a leading international competition law firm in Brussels. After graduating from Catholic University of Leuven (LLB), she obtained Master’s degrees from University of Panthéon Sorbonne Paris I and University of Descartes Paris V in the fields of European law. During her studies, Esra worked as a trainee at the French Competition Authority and the European Parliament along with several international law firms in Paris and Brussels. Esra was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2010. Esra is experienced in European and Turkish competition law including, mergers and acquisitions, compliance matters and cartel investigations conducted by the Turkish Competition Board. She has represented various multinational and national companies before the Turkish Competition Authority concerning various sectors. She is fluent in English, French and Turkish.

The articles in this Special Issue aim to demonstrate how the Turkish Competition Board (the “Board”) paved the way for the harmonization of the Turkish competition law regime with European Union law over the span of the past decade on various fronts. In a similar vein, these articles also intend to shed light on the contemporary approach adopted by the Board in cases concerning anticompetitive practices, unilateral practices and mergers.
