Independent Consultant (Economist)

Mexican economist, MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge. BA in Economics from Universidad de Chile. Consultant for the Economics Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); Consultant for Foro Consultivo de Ciencia y Tecnología (2015); Visiting Scholar and researcher at the Economics Department of Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City (2012-2014). Head of the International Trade and Industry Unit at ECLAC in Mexico (2000-2011) and Economics Affairs Officer at ECLAC (1989-2000). During 1980-1989 she was a researcher and professor at the Economics Department of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE), Mexico City. She was a visiting scholar at several US academic institutions: Harvard Institute for International development, (HIID), Harvard University; Economics Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs; Center for Latin American Studies, Brown University, Providence, R.I.; Center for US-Mexico Studies University of California, San Diego. Her research has focused on industrial policy; trade and environment; and competition policies. She has several publications on these topics.
