Ben Rossen is special counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Baker Botts. Ben is a former senior attorney at the FTC with extensive experience handling high profile privacy and data security investigations. He draws on significant litigation, regulatory, and technology experience to help clients navigate the evolving privacy, cybersecurity, and antitrust regulatory environment, including advising on federal and state privacy and security compliance, responding to investigations, and litigating challenges filed by privacy regulators. At the FTC, Ben served as a senior attorney in the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection and as an advisor to the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Ben has extensive experience leading investigations arising under Section 5 of the FTC Act, COPPA, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Safeguards Rule, including the largest data security settlement ever obtained by the FTC (FTC v. Equifax, Inc., No.1:19-cv-03297-TWT, N.D. Ga.). He regularly engaged with Commissioners, senior leadership of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Congress, and foreign and state regulators on issues related to privacy and technology.
