Joanna Tsai

Joanna Tsai has extensive experience in the economics of antitrust liability, damages, mergers, and class certification. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Tsai was economic advisor to Commissioner Joshua D. Wright at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and advised Commissioner Wright on a broad range of competition and intellectual property issues. Dr. Tsai has more than 10 years of experience in antitrust, consumer protection, intellectual property, and regulatory matters in a variety of industries and has held positions in both private practice and in government. She was a principal with CRA from 2011 to 2013 and was Director, Office of Strategic Planning and Economic Analysis, with the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Tsai’s consulting experience includes assessment of private actions involving attempted monopolization claims, damages, and advising clients on the potential unilateral and coordinated effects of proposed transactions. Dr. Tsai has been a vice-chair of the Economics Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law since 2012. She frequently speaks at academic and industry conferences and has written articles for Antitrust Magazine, Antitrust Law Journal, and CPI Antitrust.
