Mário Marques Mendes

Mário is a partner and head of Competition and European Law at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in Portugal. He is a very experienced lawyer in the following practice areas: EU law, competition/antitrust law, M&A, agency/distribution, IT law, TMT, international trade law and litigation/arbitration. He holds a degree in Law from Universidade de Lisboa and an EU Law Diploma from the College of Europe, Bruges – Belgium (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarship). He obtained an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, USA. Mário is highly praised and recognised by legal directories. He was recently honoured in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame and the publication Global Competition Review 100 distinguished him as Elite Lawyer in 2018. He is also recognised by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 as one of the leading practitioners in the areas of Competition/European Law and Competition/Antitrust Law. Mário is author and co-author of several specialist legal publications, including several Getting the Deal Through titles from Law Business Research, being the exclusive co-author for the Portuguese chapters.
