James J. Kovacs is a partner in the Washington, DC office of Constantine Cannon. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, he was an associate at a boutique antitrust firm, where he focused on antitrust and health care law. Over the course of his practice, Mr. Kovacs has worked on a number of matters including private antitrust and health care litigation, representing clients before the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission, analyzing the effects of a proposed settlement in a significant health care provider acquisition, authoring numerous amicus briefs for a variety of federal appellate courts on pay-for-delay and product hopping, Robinson-Patman Act and hospital merger cases, and authoring a report on accountable care organizations for a physician organization discussing compliance issues and other legal issues, including Stark Law and anti-kickback. Mr. Kovacs graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2013 with a concentration in Health Law. During law school, Mr. Kovacs interned for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Additionally, he served as the Lead Editor for the Saint Louis University Journal of Health Law and Policy. Mr. Kovacs graduated cum laude from Fordham University in 2010 with a major in economics and a minor in political science. Mr. Kovacs is admitted to practice in Missouri and has pending admission to the District of Columbia; he is supervised by a member of the D.C. Bar.
