Volker Soyez has been running Haver & Mailänder’s Brussels office since 2009. His main areas of advice are therefore classical “Brussels” topics such as EU antitrust law, state aid law and also the EU law relating to the free movement of goods and services. In addition, Volker Soyez has special expertise and experience in the areas of “antitrust compliance” and “compensation litigation under antitrust law”. Volker Soyez’ clients include Fortune 500 companies and also medium-sized German companies, international organisations and industrial associations.
Volker Soyez studied at the universities of Fribourg (Switzerland), Complutense (Madrid) and Frankfurt am Main (Dr. jur.). He is the founder and co-editor of the journal “Global Competition Litigation Review” and has published numerous articles – in particular on antitrust topics. Volker Soyez leads the work group “Antitrust Compliance” in the Netzwerk Compliance e.V.” and the antitrust conciliation office “Gütestelle Kartellrecht” (rules of procedure (E); rules of procedure (D)) which is state-recognized within the meaning of section 794 (1) no. 1 German Code of Civil Procedure. He is visiting professor at the Universidad de Murcia, a member of the antitrust study group “Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht” as well as of the state aid discussion group “Berliner Gesprächskreis für Beihilfenrecht”. In addition to his mother tongue of German Volker Soyez speaks fluent English, Spanish and French.
