Valentin Mircea is the founder of the Center for Studies in Competition. Between May 2009 and October 2013 Mr.Mircea was Board Member and Vice-President of the Romanian Competition Council. In this capacity he was involved in the drafting and supervised, in 2009-2011, the significant amendments brought to the Romanian Competition Law and the subsequent revision of the secondary legislation. Mr. Mircea is the author of the book “Competition Law. Comments and explanations”, published in 2012 and of several articles on competition-related matters in Romanian and international publications. Prior to joining the competition authority Mr. Mircea has been in the private practice, as a lawyer specialized in business law. He started his legal career with KPMG Romania and continued the professional path in several reputable foreign law firms - Sinclair Roche & Temperley and, later on, Stephenson Harwood. Mr. Valentin Mircea holds an LLB from the Law Faculty, University of Bucharest, (1996), a diploma of general university studies (DEUG) from Sorbonne University (Pantheon-Assas, 1996), a master degree in national security from the National University of Defense in Bucharest (2009) and he recently finished a PhD thesis at the Faculty of Law of the Bucharest University having as topic the recovery of the damages produced by the breach of the competition law.
