Tanel has mainly specialised in Estonian and EU competition law and EU law. He has also been thoroughly engaged in energy and network industries as well as retail and wholesale of pharmaceuticals. Tanel has also wide-ranging experience in corporate law and M&A transactions. Over the years, Tanel has acted as the lead legal advisor in several large-scale competition law cases related to M&A transactions across the region, he has dealt with complex merger control issues, has been the team leader in numerous legal due diligences and has participated in several high profile IPOs. In addition, Tanel has conducted numerous analyses related to competition law (including state aid matters) and EU law, including assessments on several draft laws. He has represented clients in complex civil, administrative, misdemeanour and criminal procedures. Tanel is ranked as a leading individual by leading global research companies, such as Chambers Europe and Legal500. Tanel has appeared as a speaker at several Estonian and international seminars and has been the co-author of numerous international legal digests and articles.
