Dr. Gurrea specializes in applied industrial organization, combining theoretical modeling with econometric and statistical analyses. Dr. Gurrea’s consulting experience includes the analysis of antitrust matters, calculation of damages, analysis of the economics of punitive damages, and performing financial analyses. He has consulted in a broad variety of industries, including telecommunications, automotive, energy and financial services. Dr. Gurrea has also conducted industry studies and formulated competition policy recommendations for countries. Dr. Gurrea’s research interests include competition policy and economic issues related to competition law and intellectual property law. His interests also include theoretical and empirical analysis of network industries, particularly airlines. While attending Northwestern University, Dr. Gurrea worked as an investment research analyst at Zacks Investment Research. He also collaborated in numerous research projects involving the construction of data sets and the estimation of econometric models.
