Rita Leandro Vasconcelos is an associate lawyer of Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira since 2003, specialized in EU and Competition Law. In recent years, she has advised on complex acquisitions (including multi-jurisdictional filings) in the air passenger transport, energy, financial markets, motorways, telecommunications and consumer goods sectors. She has also advised on proceedings relating to competition restrictive practices in several sectors and State aid. Her work is also noteworthy for the wording and analysis of distribution systems, analysis of adequacy of pricing systems and rebates, agreements’ self-evaluation, and conduction of competition compliance programs. She is also experienced in conducting litigation processes in competition law matters (either appeals of fining decisions or private enforcement actions for damages) with national and European Courts, as well as in conducting appeals to the European Court of the Human Rights. She graduated in law studies from the School of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University of Porto, in 1998, obtained a Master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Lisbon Law School, in 2004, a Diploma of technical specialization in Competition Policy, in 2004, a Post-graduation in Economics in Competition Law from King’s College University of London in 2007 and a Master of Arts in Economics in Competition Law from King’s College University of London in 2009. She is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association and of the Portuguese Competition Lawyers Circle and is currently Secretary-General of the Board of the Associação Portuguesa de Direito Europeu (Portuguese European Law Association).
