Rainer M. Bierwagen is partner at the offices of ADVANT Beiten in Brussels and Berlin and member of the Competition practice group. He has practised european law in Brussels since 1989. His practice areas are international and european antitrust and trade law, state aid, mergers and acquisitions and he has assisted companies in many competition and trade cases in the administrative phase and before the courts in litigation. He advises companies in Europe and Asia active in various industrial sectors. Born in Weinheim/Germany in 1957, he received his legal education at the Universities of Heidelberg/Germany, Geneva/Switzerland and Freiburg/Germany. Rainer Bierwagen holds a law degree with honours in 1981 and was awarded Doctor of Laws with honours in 1989. After his position as a Research fellow at the University of Konstanz, 1986 - 1989, he was admitted to the Bar of Berlin and of Brussels. He is a frequent lecturer and author on issues involving competition and trade law and State aid.
