Philippe Nasse (1939-2008) was statistician at the Head Office of the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) from 1964 to 1982, head of the national quarterly accounts Division (from 1975 to 1978), and head of the economic forecasts Division (from 1978 to 1982). From 1982 to 1997, M. Nasse was with the French Ministry of Finance : Deputy Director (from 1982 to 1988), Deputy Head (1988 to 1990) and Head of the Economic Forecasts Division (from 1994 to 1997). From 1997 to 2001, M. Nasse was Magistrate at the State Audit Office. In addition, M. Nasse was also member of the Research Department at INSEE (from 1968 to 1970) and Managing Director of Paris based Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique (School of Statistics and Economic Affairs) from 1990 to 1994, and Professor at the Economic Department of Ecole Polytechnique from 1974 to 1988. He has been a Member of the Competition Council since 1999 and Deputy President since 2001. M. Nasse died in 2008.
