Peter Guryan is a Partner resident in the Firm’s New York office and a member of the Firm’s Antitrust Practice. Peter has extensive experience in civil and criminal antitrust matters for major corporations and private equity firms. He has represented clients in obtaining antitrust approvals in numerous high-profile and challenging transactions, often global in scope, and in other government antitrust investigations before the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and competition authorities outside of the United States. Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Peter was a partner at Fried Frank. He began his career at the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice where he played a significant role in the successful challenge of the proposed merger between WorldCom and Sprint. In addition, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Harold A. Ackerman on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Peter is admitted to the bar in New York and to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received his J.D., cum laude, in 1996 from Cornell Law School and his B.A. in 1992 from Cornell University.
