Nicolas Sarkozy was born in 1955 in Paris. Trained as a lawyer, he is the president of the political party Les Républicains (ex-Union for a Popular Movement). He served as mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine and as minister of the budget; minister of communication; minister of the economy, finance, and industry; and minister of the interior. He was the President of the Republic from May 2007 to May 2012.
