Nate is a partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP in Washington, DC. He focuses on the representation of corporate and individual clients in criminal grand jury investigations and prosecutions, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries and enforcement matters, and related parallel civil proceedings. He handles proceedings before the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Defense, U.S. Congress, and other federal and state regulators. He also conducts numerous internal investigations, advises clients on corporate governance issues, and assists with the implementation of compliance codes. A significant part of Nate’s practice includes defending companies in corruption investigations and other matters related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He has participated in several cross-jurisdictional investigations involving the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as a number of foreign law enforcement agencies such as the United Kingdom’s Serious Fraud Office. In addition, Nate helps companies avoid the myriad problems associated with foreign corruption by leading internal reviews and creating compliance programs designed to address these issues. Nate also has experience handling government antitrust investigations on behalf of companies in various industries, such as airtravel, defense, pharmaceuticals, energy, chemicals, home products, and technology. He has counseled and defended these clients in all types of antitrust litigation on both the federal and state levels. Nate consequently dedicates a portion of his practice to providing antitrust compliance training and advice. Before entering private practice, Nate was a trial attorney with the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, where he led investigations into the retail and energy sectors. Prior to his service at the commission, Nate was an Associate Independent Counsel with the Office of Independent Counsel in the matter of In re A. Michael Espy, as part of a team that investigated and prosecuted several high-ranking officials of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Nate also served as Counsel to U.S. Senator Robert J. Dole from 1995 to 1996.
