Mathew Stalker is Competition Economist at KPMG advisory. He has worked in economic consultancy since 2000. He has advised clients on both sector-specific regulation and completion policy during the course of investigations including mergers, anti-competitive agreements, price regulation, private litigation and assessments of dominance in cases before the European Commission, domestic authorities and international arbitration tribunals. His experience has been gained in a broad range of sectors including telecommunications, media, entertainment, financial services, payment systems, government, public bodies, transport and petroleum products. He has particular expertise in the application of empirical techniques to the assessment of competition concerns. Prior to working in consulting Mathew was a researcher with the Centre for Market and Public Organisation at the University of Bristol. While there he applied advanced econometrics to a variety of topics including insider dealing, intertemporal poverty transmission and non-financial indicators of firm success.
