Martin Klusmann has been a partner since 1997 and works in our Duesseldorf office. He is a member of our antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) practice group. His areas of practice include all aspects of German, European and international competition law. Martin has been involved in various major merger cases as well as in many national and international cartel investigations (e.g. steel beams, alloy surcharge, large diameter and seamless tubes, methionine, vitamins, Austrian and German banks, graphite and specialty electrodes, sodium gluconate, methionine, plasterboard, sorbates, organic peroxides and elevator cases). Martin has represented clients before the authorities and in many cases before competent national and European courts and international arbitration tribunals. He has particular industry expertise in IT work, having advised major GSM and fixed-line telephone companies, as well as particular computer industry and chemical industry know how. Martin was born in Duisburg (Germany) in 1965. He completed his legal education at the universities of Hamburg and Bochum (both Germany) and holds a doctor of laws degree (Dr iur) from the University of Bochum. In 1995, he was a visiting attorney at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago. He is a co-author in Wiedemann, Handbuch des Kartellrechts. Martin joined the firm in 1992. He speaks German and English.
