Martin Bechtold

Martin Bechtold is a partner in the Frankfurt and Brussels offices of King & Wood Mallesons. Over more than 25 years of advising clients on competition matters, both at the level of the European Commission and the Bundeskartellamt he advised clients in many cartel investigations, leniency applications and settlement procedures; He defended parties in German and European courts; He successfully steered merging parties through many, partially heavily contested merger control proceedings; dealt with case of alleged abuse of dominant positions; and he supported clients in ongoing matters of distribution, pricing and other behavioural competition issues. Martin is a member of the IBA, ABA, ECLF and Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht and is a (co-)author to various books and articles on competition law. His working languages are German and English.
