Maria Trabucchi joined BDGS Associés in January 2016. Avocat à la Cour, admitted to the New York bar, Maria was previously partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges (2008-2009) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (2009-2016).

Maria’s practice is devoted to EU and French competition law. She advises French and international companies on all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartels, abuses of dominant position, competition litigation, follow on damages claims, State aid and distribution law. Her practice encompasses counselling, litigation and transactional matters across an array of industries. She represents clients before the European and French competition authorities and courts.

She has recently advised Groupe Fnac on the Phase II French merger control proceedings related to its acquisition of Darty; Intercontinental Hotels Group regarding the procedure opened by the French Competition Authority against and Expedia for anticompetitive behaviour and abuse of dominant position; Wendel before the European Court of Justice with regards to several appeals against the European Commission’s decision approving Wendel as the acquirer of assets divested by Lagardère following the Vivendi Universal Publishing/Lagardère merger.

She is cited as a leading individual in the competition law sections of Chambers Europe, EMEA Legal 500, GCR’s “International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists”, GCR’s Women in Antitrust. She is a member of the Association des Avocats pratiquant le droit de la concurrence (APDC).

She holds a Master’s degree in European Business Law from the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas and an LLM in Trade Regulation - Antitrust from the New York University School of Law.

She is fluent in French, English and Italian.
