


Maria Jaspers
Since autumn 2020, Maria Jaspers is the Director of the Cartel Directorate of the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission (DG Competition). Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of Unit of the Antitrust Policy and Case Support Unit after having been Head of Unit in the Cartel Directorate for five years. She joined the European Commission and DG Competition in 2001 and worked in different units dealing with antitrust policy and enforcement issues before starting her management career as the Deputy Head of the (then) Antitrust and Merger Case Coordination Unit in 2007. Maria Jaspers is a Swedish lawyer and has a Master of European Law from the Europa-Institut in Saarbrücken, Germany. Before joining the European Commission, she spent two years in private practice in Sweden.
