Madoka Shimada is a partner at Nishimura & Asahi and handles a broad range of matters pertaining to Japanese competition law, including domestic and international cartels, bid rigging, M&A transactions, cartel investigations, leniency applications and general competition law compliance. Ms. Shimada is especially active in cross-border matters such as international cartels and international merger control cases. She has represented clients in connection with international cartels on airline surcharges, air cargo forwarders, marine hoses, TFT-LCDs, bearings, and more. Ms Shimada graduated from the University of Tokyo (LLB) in 1997 and earned a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School in 2003 and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School in 2005.
