Julia K. York

Julia York has represented numerous global corporations in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, energy and financial markets, in both litigation and transactional matters. Selected experience includes: defending a generic pharmaceutical company in a suit brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), including before the Supreme Court of the United States, challenging the legality of a patent litigation settlement; defending brand-name and generic pharmaceutical companies in multi-district litigations; representing brand-name and generic pharmaceutical companies in connection with FTC investigations and inquiries; defending a pharmaceutical company CEO in a challenge to an FTC investigation; defending Energy Transfer Partners in an antitrust class action alleging conspiracy and predatory pricing in the Texas natural gas market; and representing a financial futures exchange during a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into a proposed joint venture. Ms. York also counsels clients on various aspects of proposed acquisitions and other transactions, including the filing requirements of the Medicare Modernization Act, and has participated as a panelist in discussions regarding pharmaceutical patent litigation settlements. Prior to joining Skadden, Ms. York represented and counseled clients from diverse industries in connection with DOJ and FTC investigations into mergers and acquisitions. Ms. York also assisted with the preparation and filing of Hart-Scott-Rodino filings and submissions to the U.S. antitrust agencies. Other prior experience includes the representation of a television industry client in a DOJ criminal price-fixing investigation, as well as the representation of a telecommunications industry client and an aluminum industry client in international arbitration proceedings in Switzerland.
